German authorities have granted final approval for a 500MW/1GWh battery energy storage system in Bavaria, making it one of the largest BESS facilities ever approved in Europe.
The project, led by a consortium of European energy companies, will utilize advanced lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery technology and is expected to begin construction in Q2 2025.
Grid Services
The facility will provide multiple grid services including frequency containment reserve (FCR), automatic frequency restoration reserve (aFRR), and capacity market participation.
